The UNC Charlotte College of Arts + Architecture presents the Martha Graham Dance Company in its first Charlotte performance in more than 30 years. One of the most revered dance troupes in the world, the company is a vessel for the ground-breaking 20th-century choreography of Modern Dance pioneer Martha Graham. The program includes the Charlotte premiere of Graham's 1944 masterpiece, “Appalachian Spring, ‘with the live performance of Aaron Copland's score, and “Imperial Gesture,” a lost Graham work reconstructed by UNC Charlotte Assistant Professor of Dance and former Graham dancer Kim Jones.
